Who are Untamed Burden and what does their name mean??
Untamed Burden is a group of believers, families and friends that share a passion to freely worship Jesus regardless of church or denomination norms, government or societal pressures, or what's considered PC or Hollywood 'mainstream'.
Our band's name means simply that we have a burden to worship Jesus that will not be tamed by anyone or anything!!! We have an Untamed Burden to worship Jesus!! And this is Our Story...
Untamed Burden started in October of 2005. Chris and Desiree Howard worked with Richard (Guitar) to write our first song together that later became Fuel. This song was written as a theme to praise nights at our church that are called by the same name. The song and the praise nights are based on Romans 12:1-2.
In November of 2005, Richard and Steve (Vocal) had a long midnight talk about music and worship. We both agreed that there was something missing in our spiritual lives regarding worship. We began tossing around the idea of forming a band. Steve and I got permission from our wives and started planning a band.
Of course, Chris and Desiree were in, and Steve's wife Becky (Vocal and Keyboard) was interested. We needed a bass player to round out the band. That's where Brad (Bass) comes in. If you're counting, that makes 6 members. My wife, Sheila has always been part of the band with activities like managing our finances, running sound, photos / video, and most recently she has started playing bass with us just for fun.
Chris, Desiree and Brad were important parts of Untamed Burden for the past 3+ years. They contributed greatly to the sound that has become Untamed Burden. Chris and Desiree wrote several of our original pieces and Brad always pushed us to make our sound solid and strong. 2009 has presented all of our families with challenges and opportunities. Brad, Chris and Desiree are following God's leading into unknown chapters of their lives. The rest of us wish them all of God's best in whatever He has in store for their lives. Thank you all!!!
I mentioned on our Home page that our key verse is Jeremiah 20:9 and in case you're wondering, here's what it says: But if I say, "I will not mention him or speak any more in his name," his word is in my heart like a fire, a fire shut up in my bones. I am weary of holding it in; indeed, I cannot.
